Dirty Motor

My 04 5.4 needs a bath, can I pressure wash my engine or not?

I think it would be ok, just make sure you cover up any electrical components, fuse box, air filter etc. They contain things pretty good these days.

Do not use any steam. The steam can seep into the electrical fittings and cause problems. With all the electrical fittings I would find other ways to clean the engine other than using water pressure.

DO NOT PRESSURE WASH! It will force water past seals and connections and cause all kinds of problems. I wouldn't wash but if you do, don't use high pressure.

don't hit it directly with the high pressure, or just use a water hose and make the pressure with your thumb. hitting up your engine and all other components, especially electrical, with high pressure is asking for trouble.

Water hose and some simple green on a cold motor will make it look like brand new again.

I like to use some tire clean foam... Spray it on and then hose it off.

+1 for that. Just did it the other day and then sprayed tire shine on the whole motor. Looks great, to easy.
