injectors

my '05 6.0 gelled up three weeks ago. it was -23 it ran for like ten miles then died and would not restart. had it towed to the dealer and a week later and a bottle of power service and they had it running. a week after that they said two injectors were bad. i just got it back and it runs great. i know run antigel fuel additive at every fill up. i have heard that the 6.0 injectors are super sensitive to any loss in fuel pressure. i frequently run in temperatures as low as -40 and count on my truck. should i plan on more injector problems or will using power service keep my truck running for a long time. it has 68k miles. i dont mind the problems now since its under warranty but i'm heading back to school soon and can't afford to be replacing injectors.

Yes If the injectors do not have enouph fuel pressure they will hammer themselves to death. You may just of had a couple go bad from the fuel gell that had occured. If you keep away from the bio diesel in that cold of temp and use the fuel additive that is made for anti gelling then I would say you are ok.

One other thing I would recommend at those cold temps is to use a synthentic 5-40 weight oil. The injectors will thank you for it.

If you often run in that temperature, i would find some sort of fuel heater element that runs on a seperate battery, or a very low draw off the stock batteries. Something either inside the tank, or a patch on the outside, to at least warm it up a "little".

With the wind chill tonights low is -44c or about the same fahrenheit. When its this cold 0-30 is the oil of choice. No pan heater just a block heater and winter fuel treatment. My buddies 04 chev wont start when its this cold even plugged in.
