In August I bought a 1995 XL, 4.9L/Mazda 5sp/2wd with 109,000 miles. The body is excellent so I figure it’s got a long life ahead of it. There’s a few thing’s I want to do with it so I’ll start with these two.
1) I want to install a stock tack because I don’t have one. I don’t need one (been driving manual since I was a kid on the farm) but would like to have one anyway. I found the same truck in the junk yard and was thinking of getting the instrument panel. So the question is - A) can I just plug the panel in or do I have to add sensors or do anything with the computer - B) this truck has less miles so is there a way to increase the mileage on a digital odometer (by hitting a button on the back or something) so it reads correct if installed in mine<o>.</o>
2) Does anyone make a turbo kit for a 4.9L EFI? I love the low end torque but would like more hp for the top end on the expressway. Or has anyone tried a Jet Performance Module/Chip?
There is no turbo kit for the 300`s at present. If you want a turbo setup, you DIY from scratch.Check over at www.fordsix.com
You will find enough turbo subjects to keep you reading for a week and then some.

You could swap clusters in your dash, or get an aftermarket tach. I got one for my truck for $25 or so (the cheapest one at Autozone), and love it. Have it mounted on my steering column in the middle, and it sits in front of where the tach 'would have been' on the dash. Tachs are easy to install, too. Not to mention, if it gets wrecked or you sell it one day, you can take the tach back out and put it in something else.
You can do the change out on the instrument cluster. You use everything off the new cluster but reuse your speedometer. All the wiring is already on your truck. I just did the same to mine.I think there is a post on here somewhere, or you can google factory tachometer for f150, something like that and get the step by step instructions.
Since you have the Mazda box, take a look in the trans threads about this transmission. It uses rubber or plastic plugs up top. They go to pot and leak. Low fluid is a leading cause of failure for this box. There are aftermarket metal plugs available. PITA to replace, but worth it.
