Ok so I thought I had an exhaust leak, after messin with it for weeks I found that it's a head gasket. I seen head gaskets go but never sound like a header leak. Ran a comp check, 2 & 3 are way low and I can feel it blowing out the gasket. Anybody seen/heard a a head gasket sound like that? That's my project for tomorrow.
Make sure you install them the right way.... they should be marked front... make sure they are faceing the front or it wont cool right.... also make sure you clean the head bolt hole.. if there is chit in the hole the head bolts wont pull the head down right...
Yeah I'm still waiting on the intake gaskets to get here., this lil town in AK didn't have em'. I already had a set of head gaskets, intakes should be here today.
I hope you guys are right. I have a 5.0 with 30 pounds compression on 5 & 6. 120 pounds everywhere else. I was thinking I might have a cracked head as my oil is staying nice. Maybe I will be lucky. I plan on pulling the head Monday or Tuesday
when you pull the valve cover look for a broken rocker stud..... I had one brake and the rocker jammed up the rocker right next to it.... sounded like a head gasket leaking when it would fire cause the exhaust valve never opened to release the pressure....only made the noise when you reved it up.
Got it apart, looks like crap on the pass side, great on the drivers side. I broke a rocker last week on the drivers side. Did I mention I hate the headers on the pass side, that rear bolt sucks!!!!

Was on my way home from work, started to accelerate and sounded like I had a cylinder missin, but way worse. I limped home, tore of the valve cover and the dadgum thing was busted next to the bearing. Called Proform and they sent me one free of charge, not even shipping. Was weird cuz I wasn't even getting on it hard when it went, I was behind granpa I think.
I pulled the head off and the head gasket was broke between 5 & 6. As I was pulling the head off I found that the headbolt between the exhaust for 5 & 6 had no head on it. I had a devile of a time getting the head off but everything looks good. I checked the head for warpage and couldn't find any. I believe someone has replaced this engine as it appears to me that it has a roller cam as there is a spider that hold all the lifters in position. The block is a E7TE and the head is E6SE date code 0A31 (Jan 31 of probably 90). I hope to get it back together tommorrow
Sounds like someone swapped in a Crown Vic, Marquis or Lincoln Town Car 5.0 in there. It could use a better cam in that case. It'll have the smallest roller cam in it. The lift is something like .402/.380, advertised duration is something like 245*
