94 Clutch
We Need To Drop The Tranny And Do Some Work On The Tower Because It Is Stuck. Being That The Tranny Is Off, Dad And I Are Going To Replace The Clutch Being That Its Right There. Whats A Good Brand Clutch? I Probably Wont Bring It In The Mud But It Will Be Off Road Every Now And Then.i Found One On Ebay For 90 Bucks. What Should Be Replaced Along With The Clutch? Thanks.
Throwout bearing, pilot bearing, flywheel (alot of times its cheaper to buy a new one), new slave cylinder, and clutch. While you have it out take a look at the shifter rail plugs on top behind top plate/shifter. It if its wet adn they are dried replace them. You want a new slave cylinder too, although alot of kits come with them because after you get it all done the old one will probably leak again... You can replace shifter forks easy, also look at the internals and replace stuff that isn't good. Old paint usually has a pretty big list of stuff to replace/check. I will try and find the post he posted to a q of mine about the m50d.
This job doesn't seem bad...... but I heard teh slave cylinder can be a real PITA to bleed.

This came from a Ford Dealership clutch installation .....

Note the REMANUFACTURED stickers on BOTH the pressure plate and the disc. Dunno what was done to the plate, but it had scars all over it. And I paid NEW prices for this? Coulda had equal if not better quality from Advance Auto Parts, and saved nearly $800 in labor had I done it myself. But, didn't have the time to do the job, and got had by another stealership. I found this less than a year after I had a dealership install the clutch/disc/master/slave in my truck, and they neglected the rear main seal, despite the fact they already had the flywheel off as well for re-surfacing. If you get it from a dealer, make THEM open the box in front of you. If it says REMANUFACTURED on the parts, and it probably will on parts for a '94 with M5OD, tell them the price you got for REMAN parts from your favorite parts house, and walk out. The entire package, including master and slave from a parts house will run you about 50% of what a dealership wants. From a dealership, you will get a 12 month warranty. From a parts house, you may even get a life-time warranty. It's up to you.
