I bought a 79 F150 with rebuilt 460 (supposedly rebuilt by a professional engine rebuilder). I am swapping this into my 79 F250 Supercab 4x4 and was looking over the entire engine prior to installation.
One head has the DOVE C and the other looks like a C8VE ? (can't read last letter).......... could this be correct? Is this o.k.that they are different heads?
Also, I removed the spark plugs and was looking in each of the cylinders and on top of each piston is the number (.060). Does this mean it was bored out .060" over? Is this o.k.? Will this make it more succeptable to getting hot?
I drove it for about an hour and it seemed very healthy.
Yes its bored .060, one head is a 1968 and the other is a 1970 head. Yes they are the same head according to the Tom Monroe book with a 75.8 cc rating. 68 to 71 used the same head.
