I have a 1985 f250 4x4 with a 6.9L diesel ... The tag on the rear end is missing ... How can I find out the specifics of it without that tag? It is a 10-bolt if that helps ... And there is a molded number on the back side of the diff housing "2414A" ...

Heres a link to visually identify which rear end. This plus the axle code should get you what you need. (Please forgive the gm web site). Eric.
Door thawed out after freezing rain enough that I got it open ... Axle number listed is 73 ...
Tanx for the link ... The front is a DANA 44IF .... The back looks like a 60 ...
Now all I have to do is figure out how to lose a few inches in heigth ... Yes ... I want it to be a ground hugger ... I do my off-roading in a Cherokee named "JEPE" ... I want the f250 for show and the 4x4 part of it for winted snow and ice handling ... Besides ... Very few people slam a 4x4 f250 anyway ... Wanna be special ...

Unfortunately, my 1981 Ford shop manual doesn't have a listing for an axle code of 73 so I have no idea what your gear ratio is, maybe you can look it up someplace? Or ask the Parts dept at your Ford dealer....
