Bought another truck yesterday. it was even in my home town. it's a 66 f-250 4 WD. i have a 64 4WD that i have been driving as a daily user for about ten years now but the frontend is starting to tell me that it wont be long and i'll be spending a goodly amount of cash to repair it so when i saw this one i bought it. if someone would decode it for me I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you Dutch

Dutch; as far as I can decode from what paper copy vin sheet I got is as follows:
F26= F250 61-66 4wd
B= engine 300, which make F26 code a 66 model.
K= assembly plant (Kansas City)
790837= Consecutive unit #, Dec 1965 when built.
120= Wheel base lenght.
A= Exterior color (Black)
F260?= model should be F250, decode as F110 or F111
After F260 should have Body type, trans, axle on sameline; then 2nd line shouldhave max GVW lbs, cert net H.Power, RPM, DSO.
Your numbers are beyond my capablities,
Hope this helps

DSO: 422073: 42 = Fargo ND Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from. 2073 = Special Order Invoice Number: The truck was a Domestic Special Order.
DSO = when two digits are present, it's a standard production vehicle.
When 6 digits are present, the vehicle was ordered with special equipment.
The last 4 digits refer to the special order invoice number for the special equipment added.
Mitch: the Body Code of F260 is correct...it's a 4WD.
If it was a 2WD, then it would be F250.
* F260: This body code was first used in 1959 to designate a 3/4 ton 4WD Pickup, and is STILL used today.
