Block casting#
I,ve been hanging around this board for awhile and have come to beleive that this is the best source of info on the 385 series ford.
I picked a complete engine out of a box van, the cast on the block reads as follows D9TE-AB.
I've got a few books on these engines but couldn't find this #
Any help would be great

Block casting#
D9TE
D = 1970s
9 = year of the decade (so it's a 1979)
T = truck
E = engine division
So it's a 1979 truck engine.
I'm not shure if this is 100 percent correct, but its the way I was tought to break down part #s
1978 F-150 4x4
1998 Crown Vic Police Interceptor

For the few 460's I've had open, the only visable differance I've seen is a truck engine will have the foot-ball shaped rod-bolts in them...they are identicle to the rods and rod-bolts used in the CJ and SCJ engines. Deen
