wheres a good source for a 82 ext cab cab & rad bushings? just regular one's would be fine or Polyurethane just hate not to replace them while cabs off.
thanks john
I used energy suspension polyurethane bushings when I rebuilt my radius arms. They are a good brand and you can get them from summit racing. If you get the part number from summits website you might be able to cross reference that with a local parts store and get them locally to save on shipping. The polyurethane bushings are a little stiffer than the rubber ones but won't crack and break down like the factory rubber ones.
Yes ,LMC, has them-for $100. J.C. Whitney has them for $80.00. Look to your left, at the list of our fine sponsors, and click on Bronco Graveyard-$64.00. These are quotes for polyureathane cab mounts, they don't mention the radiator, but I'm sure they have them as well.
Well, they're there... If you click on 1980-96 full-size, (which you have), it will bring up a listing of parts, which you can scroll down to "suspension", click on that and it will bring up a box entitled "bushings/polyurethane". Click on that, and less than halfway down the page, on the left side will be a listing for Daystar body mount bushings Ford truck. If that's too much trouble for you, you can just click in the "search" box in the upper left hand corner at the home page and type in part # 33095, and then hit search. Did you ever do any of your own homework? If I sound a bit sarcastic, it's because I am. I searched 3 places for you and you can't find it on the one that will save you $36.00? If you don't want polyurethane bushings, then get the frigging phone book out and look up "Auto Parts-New".
When i said i did'nt see them at bronco graveyard did'nt mean i would'nt go look agian i was just thankin ppl like you for there suggestions. Which is what i was askin for.So thanks for your help.I did go back and find them and i've already seen the lmc and jc whitney ones was just askin around ppl on here thinkin they may have already tryed some and liked or disliked. And theres guys out here that dont know some of the best ways or types of parts to use so i was thinkin thats why we come here is to help each other out from time to time some things i may know that you may not know. So if it makes your day keep up your sarcastic ways and i hope you have a nice day
thanks john
Your welcome, John. Your earlier response didn't convey the same message as your recent one, but it's easy to misrepresent intentions in the printed word. I usually have a nice day, despite what the world throws at me, and I'm here for the same reasons you are. Your earlier response just rubbed me the wrong way. If you have the time, they come up on E-bay from time to time, (but not very often), I could have picked up a set for $20. 3 weeks ago, but didn't have the funds. Helping someone out when I can makes my day, being sarcastic is a gut reaction to getting the impression that the person who you try to help is unappreciative of the effort, I'm sure I just misunderstood your earlier response. It's too late to say have a nice day, so have a great night.-Doug
Buying them is the easy part. Getting the old ones off is usually next to impossible. I ended up taking to the old ones with a thin cutoff wheel on the angle grinder. 6 cuts on each washer where the flat of the nut meets it and angled in at 45°. Screw the bolt into the nut from below and hit with FBH from above. I replaced all the hardware and machined up some spacers. BTW, I got the bushes from Summit ENS-4-4107G .
ok thanks lol luckly 3 of the 6 on the frame i'm building fell off. cabs off so hopefully wont be that bad to get other 3 off. with the Polyurethane did you say you had to build spacers ? just wondering some of the one's i've looked at say you need to reuse some parts.and lookin at the pic to your name looks as if we have another project the same i'm waitin on my 65 fastback to get back from paint hopefully next week or two
The poly bushings just replace the rubber OEm units, so you'll need to re-use the factory hardware. You may need to use some or all of the thin spacers or make new ones to align your body panels. It's possible to buy the radiator core support units only as an assembly, since the rubber is molded into the metal sleeve. Hopefully, you can save the other cab and bed mounting hardware, since those are not cheap (even from JBG). i did booger up the threads on a few of my 84 body mounts trying to separate the upper and lower sleeves, but was able to re-tap them and use them with the new poly's . Bought those from Rocky Mountain Suspension, made by Daystar. JSM84

Yep, I've got a '65 coupe that is a very long term project. The F100 I am 'reconditioning' now was bought to tow the '65 around. I hope to get the Mustang going by the end of this year (which will make it a 9 year project!). At least I didn't have to change the F-truck to RHD, but there was far more rust in it! I joined stangnet in 2002 and carry the name thru all the other forums i go to - makes it a lot easier to remember!
The original cab mounting hardware had inbuilt 'spacers' on the rubber bushes. If you can get these apart you can reuse them with the new poly bushes. I destroyed the cab bush hardware getting them out so I had to machine up a couple of spacers to suit the bushes so that the bolt was tightening up on the spacer and not crushing the bush.
I confess, I gave up on the rear cab bushes because I couldn't easily get to them and therefore didn't replace them. They are pretty good anyway. The radiator support panel bushes don't need a spacer made up for them.
dang 9 years and i thought 3 was long. have mine going its just waiting at the paint shop(hopefully 2 more weeks ) and i'll have it back can't wait to drive it agian so we'll see what i get done to the truck before then they say snow this week so it may get pushed back a little thanks everyone for all the input i'll keep plugin along
good luck on the stang oz
I bought the Prothane Total Kit for my 84 F150 from Summit, think it was around $150 bucks. It came with: body/cab mounts, leaf spring/shackle bushings, radius arm bushings, axle pivot bushings, and tie rod boots. They are available in black or red urethane. All my body mounts were shot, also ordered all new NOS body mounting hardware (bolts, washers, spacers, etc) from Bronco Graveyard.
