If i go get some headers, i saw a tube that goes after the first cat. if i get the headers then i will drop the two cats and put turn downs off the headers. Is this tube important or just some emissions crap and will it hert to leave it off.
I'm no expert but i think That is the O2 sensor. I actually burned the line off of a car i had during a race. Junked the cat and O2 sensor and capped the port for the tube the car ran fine. I wouldn't worry about it, as long as you don't get wacked at your next inspection.
You should deffinatly keep the o2 sensor, just put it one of the header collectors. one other thing to think about is the starter, cause with headers, there is no way to get the starter out of the truck without droping the trans or removing the header.

There's not? I've changed mine 3 or 4 times with the headers. It isn't pleasant, but it doesn't require removing anything else.
The tube might be the AIR tube for the cat. If you install headers it would not be needed, nor would the rest of the AIR system. The O2 sensor you definitely need to keep unless you like the thought of billowing clouds of black smoke and single digit mileage.

Why wouldthere be black smoke without the oxygen senors gone,
Mine are Heddman's. Like I said, it isn't pleasant, but it can be done. I keep telling myself I'm going to change to the later model starter with the smaller case, but I haven't done it yet. The starter will come out with the Heddman's.
If it has an O2 sensor it will run rich without it unless you ditch the stock carb and put one on that doesn't need the O2 sensor.
