The leaf springs on my front end are starting to sag. I was curious as to what I should expect to pay to have them fixed or replaced when I begin get quotes from spring shops? Is there any concern with getting them fixed immediately, or can it wait?
If it were me, I'd look into a set of aftermarket springs that will bring the truck level with out any drop brackets. I was thinking of superlifts super selects, but then decided just to put shorter blocks in the rear due to the trailer.
Is there a way to measure sag in the front springs? Or do you judge by milage?
Yeah, for me, I can use my calibrated eyball micrometers and see that the front springs not longer have a positive arch to them. IOW, they are flat, and I have seen some arch towards the ground on either side of the axle mount. But technically speaking it can be measured and compared to specs from a manual.
I was thinking about putting air bags or rubber spring helpers on my truck. Firestone makes a decent system that should work o.k. I like the idea of being able to adjust the ride, so my pickup doesn't always ride like my grain truck.

I hate airbags in the front, its just me though. From what I can describe, it feels like a little bit of cushy bottoming out. If that makes any sense. Ive measured all 4 of our 7.3 trucks, they all measure 24" from center of the hub, straight up to the bottom of the fender. I cant remember who, but after extensive research, i finally tracked down someone with x code front springs, and his measured about 3/4 of an inch higher, but his were ordered oem, and had over 100k on them, and he had a snow plow for them. I just got a new set, all around from a local spring shop, who set me up with a new set, and an extra leaf in the front. Took the front to about 26.5 inches! I also got a bada$$ set for the rear, and its about 1/4 inch higher then that, even with all my junk in there. Im actually hoping for them to settle an inch soon. I prefer the ride, however some may find my truck to be too stiff. But I know for a fact it would be rough as hell if I took my weight out of the back...
Just changed my front springs this week. I went with the 4" lift Superlifts. I paid $375 for the set. I did the rear springs back in October and they are Pro-Comps. Cannot remember the price but they were cheaper than the Superlifts and it shows. The PCs are not near as beefy as the SLs. Still they are ok for what I do with the truck.
