Remember, for taxpayers with an AGI of less than $54K, you can file online your federal return for FREE.

Just go to www.irs.gov and follow the link to the FreeFile section and pick a provider.

I've used Turbo Tax for a few years now and it haas worked well. If you have internet access just use the online version, as it is usually cheaper, and you don't have to worry about updates, etc. Federal efiling is free through them (you do have to pay for using the program though). They can also do most state filings for a fee. IL has free online filing, so I just print out my federal form and go to the IL website and fill it out there again and submit it for free.

I went to the IRS.gov web site last night and did my sons taxes for him using their free filing system. Picked a company/program called 1040Now.net and was relatively easy and that is what I need! Still waiting on a W-2 for my wife and once we get that I am going to use the same program for ours. It was free but there is a fee for filing state taxes. Cheap enough at only $17.95 for our sons.
