...while it's true obesity/heredity are the primary causes of Type 2 diabetes, and it's certainly true that if you're overweight, you should try to get down to your normal range whether you are diabetic or not, but simply maintaining a healthy weight is not a guarantee you will never be diagnosed with Type 2...most people that have it are yet to be diagnosed.
I was diagnosed ten years ago and have never been overweight, before the diagnosis or since. I take medication & insulin daily, in addition to diet & excercise, & while I have my diabetes under control, I can't imagine it ever going into remission to the point I could stop my meds...everyone is different.
Diabetes is just one reason out of hundreds to try to maintain a healthy weight & lifestyle...it's easier & cheaper than meds & surgeries!
Me again...forgot to add: Everyone should occassionally get a blood glucose test...it's simple and inexpensive. Your doctor can do it but it's often done for free or a nominal charge at health fairs & expos. It is possible to live a long & healthy life even if you are diabetic, but only if you find out in time to get it & keep it under control.
