newbie has bilstein shock question

Hi everyone. I joined a couple of months ago but have just been lurking in the shadows. It is amazing the amount of knowledge that is moving around on this board.
I just bought Bilstein shocks for my 01 250sd and installed them tonight. My question is the front shocks seem to be installed upside down compared to the Ford shocks. On the old ones the chrome shaft is on the top and the new one is on the bottom. The dust boot on the new one is on the bottom. Seems as if should be on the top. I can't flip the shock because the bushing on the top is larger in diameter. The bottom has a metal sleeve in it. Is it possible when it was built the sleeve was installed in the wrong end on the new shock? I tried to contact Bilstein but they are closed for the day. Will it hurt to drive it like this tommorow? Thanks, Barry

You installed them correctly. I thought the same thing when I did mine. Mike

Thanks, Mike. I was able to contact Bilstein today and they said since these are mono tube shocks it doesn't matter on the orientation of them.
Barry.
