My gf's mother just totalled out her GMC Yukon (that's what? half-ton or 3/4?) yesterday and will be vehicle shopping soon. Her insurance provided her with a Nissan car and she hates it so she's a "motivated buyer".
She's in her 50's and just had both knees replaced so a "high" vehicle isn't in the cards for her, but she likes larger vehicles that ride higher than passenger cars. She's accustomed to large GM SUV's like the Yukon.
I'm trying to steer her to a Ford, but I don't know whether the Escape, Explorer, or Expedition would be a better fit for her, and her budget.
She drives about 50 miles one way to work. I think the Escape (non-hybrid) would be her best bet with fuel economy and size, but going from a Yukon could be a bit of a shock.
I have an Excrusion and last November won a 2008 Ford Escape. Don't knock it as it feels like a much larger vehicle. The Excursion now sits all week as the Escape gets the nod for getting to and from work and around town. The Excursion still comes out to tow, play in the Mtns, hunt and haul.
The Escape is a stable rig that is worthy of consideration.
Best of luck to her in her decision.
