I have the pertronix in mine...no problems with it and have been running it 5-6 yrs. as a daily driver and the last 3-4 yrs. as a 2-3 times a week driver. My brother has the crane setup in his cyclone but have no record of its reliability 'cause it's not on the road yet...hope this helps.
Pertronix is the best I've heard of, plus they are coming down in price. I saw them in Summit Racing catalog for $75. They were near $100 just a year or so back.
Really simple install too.
Is that underhood generator a ford option? I know they had a "contractors special" or something like that. I've only seen one on Ebay about a year ago. It mounted on Drivers inner fender.
I've been running Ford's Duraspark system for years now. Never a problem, and extra parts are at the local parts store. No waiting a day or two from mail order companies.

thanks for the info!! freightrain as to your ? i was told the truck is a camper specal. made for those old bed campers the genator is a one clinder 4 strock made by onan. and it still runs and puts out power. the starter moter is a little weak but i can spin the flywheel on the back of it and it takes right off.
Go to the top and click user cp then click edit gallery. My favorite points conversion kit is the crane XR-i with built in rev limiter. 64.00 www.summitracing.com
