I was driving along the interstate at 65-70 running fine. When i got off the exit ramp and let off the accelerator I did not hear anythinhg unusual but when I gave it more fuel it would only go to 2000 rpm then act like it was hitting a rev limiter. I put it in park and tried reving it and it still would not go above 2000 rpm..... I drove home (slowly) shut it off and restarted it and it has run fine ever since. Ford dealer told me no point in bringing it in unless it does it again.

At 600 miles I had a loose injector that did just what you described. But my condition was not temporary. I limped into the dealer that way, but my truck would not make more than 45 - 50 mph, the motor kept itself shut down before running rpm's any higher.
was not a regen and it did not seem to be turbo related. Boost was reading normal it just would not go past 2000 rpm's. It has not happened again. I'm thinking it had to be some type of computer related thing. Boost was normal, it shifted as I drove slowly and once I turned it off and back on it went away.
'Sounds' like a glich in your case, however if it does it again, if at all possible, I'd take it in, NOT shut it off, show the service dept what it's doing and 'maybe' they could hook up a diagnostic tool to it to see what's up.
