cold diesel .. i think
i park backwards up my slanted driveway (nose is lower than bed) and my fuel guage says empty but there's just under a quarter tank and its below freezing here . its now tuesday and i haven't driven my f-250 power stroke diesel since friday and its been below freezing since and has not been plugged in . I started it yesterday (monday) and it ran very sluggish for about 2 minutes and then died . It has not started since . It cranks but will not start . i also just noticed what looks like diesel in a puddle under the middle of the drivers side of the engine . Can anyone please tell me what I can do to try to get it started ? I'm not very mechanically inclined but can do small easy projects without going to a mechanic and i dont have a garage to try to warm it up .. anything would be useful .. thanks , Steve

Maybe your fuel lines froze? Maybe you are out of fuel? You never want to leave a vehicle low on fuel when it gets very very cold.

Try getting it on level ground and crank it, it will probably noy work, but you can try. The lift pump mignt not be getting the fuel. Another cause might be that the fuel jelled up and not getting through the lines, you can try to add anti-jelling fuel agent. But since you said that you have a puddle under the truck, I'm more inclined to think that your HPOP (High Pressure Oil Pump) is leaking and not getting the oil pressure in the common rail to fire off the injectors. I would bet that your HPOP is the cause, and to fix that you gotta get it towed to the dealer. You really should post your questions in the superduty forum. Good luck.
