Just curious as to if anyone has heard a formula. If i built my engine and ran it at 9.45:1 compression, and ran on pump gas vs. building that same motor, but ran with 11.5 pistons, and put up with mixing my own.
so i guess to the point,... how much of a gain by leaving the stock compression on a DOVE motor?
Well, according to my desktop dyno 2K, you would make 41 more hp with the higher CR and about 35 ft-lbs (with a commonly built big block). and thats all across the power band too...it says 30 ft-lbs at 2000 rpms. those numbers sound about right too, the general rule is 20hp per point of compression.
