c6 tranny question
c6 tranny question
ok guys time to rack some brains. im putting a 6.9l diesel into my 87 f250 and have a donor truck for the parts however the doner is 2wd so i was wondering if i switch the output shafts but keep the correct govener can i just put my bw1356 tcase on the back of the 2wd c6 thats from the donor to make the 4wd tranny i need? it seems to easy which means it probly wont work but ill try anything at this point. anytakers? thanks for the help. -don
If the donor truck is diesel the tranny will bolt up however, if I remember correctly, the output shaft in the 2wd trans would have to be swapped with a diesel, 4x4 output shaft. I believe that there is a company, (pathfinder ?) that makes an adapter to do this as well but I'm not sure. I am almost sure that you will be money ahead to just get a 4x4 tranny to start with. Where are you located? I have one sitting in my garage.
Im located in jacksonville north carolina restrained mainly by how far from base we are allowed to travel over the weekends how much do you want for the trans/case and does it need anything
ok guys ive called around and talked to several people and the consensus was the same you could technically take a gas c6's 4wd internalls changinging only the valvebody torqueconverter and govener bolt your tcase to the back and make a diesel tranny that would work. im gonna be trying it in a week or two so ill do a complete write up with pics as to wether or not it works ill do the same for the 351w to 6.9 conversion. thanks for all the help. -don
