Cancellation of the Dakar can go on the list of things that suck.

I have not been to paradise in 30 years - I got to stay in Kailua for 2 weeks with my family at a house that my Grandfather's company owned. I tried to disappear when it was time to leave but they found me and dragged me back home.

I won't say that it's an impossibility, but it would definitely be a long term plan - but how cool would that be? A history making FTE GTG of the SoCal/Hawai'i Chapter in Hawai'i!

What I would like to try to do is have our Chapter plan GTG's in the different areas, since we are so separated by distance. Hawai'i, San Diego, Inland Empire,Ventura, and then maybe 1 GTG for all once a year.

So it is not entirely out of the question.

I understand - you would need an ice pick the size of a spear to dig in that ground this time of year.

Drive my '02 F350 around Central California repairing industrial machinery. Just a big tool box on wheels. Oh ya, I also fix things in Northern and Southern California as well as Nevada and Arizona. I'll go anywhere you want to pay me $70/hr and $1.00/mile.

Thats awesome! I travel over 15,000 miles a year just for fun, and drive every mile of those 15,000. I would LOVE to have a job like that!

Just secured employment! I'll be a Human Resources Manager and Facilities Manager for a medical management company.

Positive cash flow means more hunting and camping trips!

Tech support for a major computer company. Computer repair work on the side, doesn't bring in much but does help with the expenses.

What do you do for a living?

Today, it's next to nothing...but once...

Studebaker/Packard Partsman (part time) 1960/62 ~ Ford Partsman 1962/97.

Worked part time for Ford Parts Obsolete in Long Beach.

In the 1970's, working on weekends, detailed engines for a large classic car resto shop/sales store.

Bought and sold Ford & Packard NOS parts, porcelain and enamel signs, shop and other manuals from 1966 thru the 1990's.

Covered the 11 western states, visited more than 500 car dealers...crawled into attics, basements, chicken coops, even found a mortuary once that was loaded with 1930's Packard parts.

Swap meet/yard sale addict: 1966 to today.

Bought nice original 1940's, 50's and early 60's cars, detailed them and sold them (usually) making a buck or two. (I see the prices today for these same piles, I just can't believe it).

Bought and sold antique firearms....mostly Winchester levers. Still do this today.

Bought and sold all kinds of collectibles, including pottery, toys, cameras, Indian relics...all kinds of junk.

Had a space in an antique mall once. Quickly found out the the owner of the mall that rented the spaces, made far more money then the sellers ever did.
