460 swap
1. Motor mounts [link:www.landlproducts.com|L & L] and [link:www.performanceunlimited.com|Performance Unlimited] have them
2. Either truck exhaust manifolds or swap headers (L&L has them)
3. Rear sump oil pan made for 4x4's and vans and the pick up tube to match
4. Make sure the torque converter will work(mine did) early engines have a 1.85" crank pilot, later engines have a 1.375" crank pilot.
5. Correct brackets for accessories(PS pump, alternator, AC if equiped)
This list should get you started. It's really an easy swap. When I first looked into doing the swap in my 79 I was told I needed a body lift, which wasn't true. I also used the front sump pan that came on the 460 I used(out of a Lincoln). My truck is lifted 4" so the sump cleared the front diff just fine. There are many more people on this board that have done this swap, so they will help out as well. Good luck and have fun.
You can install an Drain plug on the back or bottom of the front sump oil pan.
This oil pan clears the crossmember, the problem is draining the oil out of it if you don't make another plug.

I don't believe there is a crossmember under the engine in a 4x4, at least not in the 4 that I have had. I think that is a 2wd thing, it provides somewhere to mount the I beams. The rear sump is used on 4x4's for differential clearance.
