So I've upgraded....
I've always wanted an F150 but could never afford one, and then when I was able to afford one, I was working 65miles away from home and went with the better gas millage truck.
For s**ts and giggles, i stopped in one of my local Ford dealers to ask about the so called "year end blowouts" they had. I found out that I could be leasing the F150 for the next three years for the same price as I was paying to own my Ranger. I had 3 years 3 months left of payments due on the Ranger last september. The plan was, by the time I was done paying on the Ranger(by then the year 2011) I would've traded it in for an F150 anyway, now that I work so close to home.
When I found this out I made the trade. I dont like leasing, I prefer to own, but jumped at the chance. The F150 is 2008 XLT 4X4 black two tone paint, with captain chairs, heated-signal mirrors, trail tow package with back up sensors, power rear slider, etc, etc..its loaded.
Here was the pro's and cons of the deal.
Pros:
I've always wanted an F150.
My insurance went down $40 a month!
I got 70% of my money back from a extended power train warrenty back I bought for the Ranger and didnt yet use.
Much more room for people,cargo.
I got to skip out of 1 months car payment.
I'll be done paying on this 3months earlier then I would've the Ranger, which would enable me to go debt free toward what I really want:a blue FX4 Supercrew 6.5ft bed F150!!!
Gas millage is the same(allthough I now have a 36gallon gas tank to fill rather then the Ranger's 17.
Makes my friends '08 Silverado look stupid.
I now have a new 3yr/36k mile bumper to bumper, and 5yr 60k powertrain which I didnt have one the Ranger anymore.
Cons:
I MISS MY RANGER!
I miss the Fx4 package and the fact I take it out and the sand dunes for off-roading.
I have to watch my miles.
It looked cool, inside and out.
I MISS MY RANGER!
while I was waiting for my paperwork to be done, I taked to the salesman about the Ranger. He said he had sold 17 all year, and most Detroit dealers don't even keep many in stock. Well, lets see....none on the lot...no advertisements for it.....no real lease deals(he said the lease & sale deals on F150's are better) GEE, I WONDER WHY YOUR NOT SELLING THE RANGER FORD?!?
I'm very sad about the end of the Ranger. Ford needs to give it the interior updates it gave to the rest of the cars and trucks. The Ranger has the ONLY interior left from the 90's. I like the outer look just fine and I love the FX4 level 2. I dont care for a crew cab, but if there are enough people to buy, make it an option and keep the current configurations. WHo knows, if gas is $5 a gallon when my lease is up and I can still get a Ranger....
Alas, I hope you all will still let me hang in this forum as well as my new haunt, the F150 forum.
You all are the best, take a bow.....
