87 302 probs...help

hey guys new to this forum. i'm usually over there modding powerstrokes lol. my dads 1987 f-150 has always had a few bugs. it was always a lil weak, but had a fuel problem on rear tank. it would cough and sputter and die on it, when it tried to work at all. sometimes it didnt work. now, he got that fixed after several years of tinkering around. it is now weak. i mean weaker than cat ****. as in cant get out of its own way, and has now cracked 2 drivers side exhaust manifolds. any ideas why? maybe running lean on that side? could it have dead injectors on that side causing it to run lean and be weak and crack manifolds? is it a common prob?

Make sure the exhaust is secure. If it bounces a lot it could crack it. I have heard of that problem with 302/351's. I don't know how true it is though.

Both sides of my '91 are cracked (302). I would agree with previous poster to check to be sure that the exhaust isn't flopping around. From what I understand cracking these manifolds isn't uncommon.

Hmmmmm, check the timing too may be too far advanced or retarded......play it by ear first then if you must use a timing light, how long since the O2 sensor been changed?could be causing it to run WAY too rich or even too lean....Luck

the pipes come down from each side (exhaust is secure) and into a y-pipe that goes into muffler, then out the back. like i say, very weak too. like cant get out of its own way. has me confused.
