New in our town. I haven't met the guy yet that's doing this. Saw his truck today at the Mall. That 5.9 Cummins fits in the engine bay like it grew there.
Seems like the web site has been put together in a hurry - some pgs under construction. What he has worked out at present is for trucks '67 and newer but with adapters for a wide range of Ford trans, auto and stick.
Just passing along some exciting info - at least to me. I've got questions about the swap that I'll have to get from the guy himself - the brochure doesn't give enough details. Will report back later. Tim
I love the Cummins engine, I put it in place of the 5.8 EFI gas burner that was in my 1992 F350. The kit is alright. If/when I do it again, I would just buy the trans adapter. All of the rest of the parts can be made or found and save you a lot of money. I don't know what trans you are wanting to use but they make the wiring harness to make the late model, PCM controlled engines "talk" to the later Ford autos. I used an 89 first gen engine mated to an 88 Ford/ZF 460 5-speed, so no wiring harness required. When I do it again, I'm thinking about going Allison transmission to the Cummins. I'm gathering parts to put the Cummins 4BT/Allison in a 1997 Ford F150 regular cab, shortbox, 2WD as we speak.
Thanks Steve, that anwers my questions. I prefer std trans and like the ZF I had behind a 460 in my old 88 F250.
I'm thinking of doing the cummins swap into a 48 2 ton grain truck that will be used for snow plowing and firewood. It has a dump bed so I need a pto takeoff.
I'll be interested in how the 4BT/Allison work out in the 97. Again, thanks for taking time to share what you've found.
