You probably have a carbon buildup on the tip........ could also be in the bore of the head...... If you can pry it up it may come out...... If the top and bottom halves of the injector split apart (unscrewed) post back and we can go to step 2. Which ever way it goes and there is carbon deposit found in the bore...... do not allow any amount to enter the cylinder if possible. Vacuum cleaner can help......
I already got it out. thanks. It did have a bunch of carbon in the injector bore.
I removed it because it was bubling fule up aroud where it screws in and I thought it had cane loose where the two halves com together but its so tight I cant loosen or tighten it. I figured that the fule bubling up around it was causing that cylinder not to fire properly and that might be why I'm geting fule in the oil. changed the lift pump that was leaking that didn't stop it and nothings comeing from the weep hole on the IP and its not plugged so its not the ip I'm geting some white smoke at idle and it smells like fule not coolant so if this isn't the problem I probly have some leaking nosles and will just put 8 new injectors in.
Your going to have to clean the sealing seat on the head. If you don't get your new inj's sealed to the head, with the copper washer. It'll ruin your new inj's VERY quickly.
Any one got any idea where I could get a barale brush to clean out the bores? checked the local parts store they had none on the shelfs and when I asked they just stared at me blankly.
Any way to fix the leak? Need to be able to drive the truck untill new injectors get here. also where can i get a pipe fiting brush? And when I get new injectors will they need to be poped and reset or can i just throw them in?
Hardware store for the brush, in the plumbing section.
A shop vac will help get the carbon out of the bore after it is loose.
The new injectors should be set correctly when you recieve them, so just install them.
Use care so you don't hit the bottom end of the injector tip against the shoulder at the bottom of the bore.
The injector pintle may be damaged if you do.
When I had one leaking, the injector housing was fubar, so there was no stopping it from leaking.
Thanks just got the brush from lowes tryed to tighten the too halfs but noting just gona put a new copper and change the return cap orings and change the oil to get me by untill I can get injectors any idea how long ground from MFI would take I won"t have time to put them in untill next weekend?
Hey George, I have worked in Vegas at the airport, there are no parts stores in LV if you know what I mean. You might call Mark at Diesel Fuel Inj Service here in portland, he could maybe recommend you a local vendor and I know he would ship some parts to you. Make sure and tell him Russ from evergreen sent you if you do. Mark is a standup guy.
