Broken Pushrod

Well I had to replace my intake gasket because it blew out. So as i was tearing everything down I found that 1 pushrod was broke in half. All the others appear at this point to be straight ( I still have to check ). Is this a stuck valve issue or bad lifter? How much damage can this cause? The rod seems to have stayed above the oil galley pan and not dropped down into the engine. I still have to remove the intake ( waiting on the brother to come over and help lift it off).

I just bought a used 390 to rebuild and replace the current 390 in my truck.

Can I use the rods out of the used motor, in the motor that is currently in my truck? Or even use the lifters.

I just want to be able to use the truck while I rebuild the used motor.

Sorry for the newby questions. No better way to learn than jump in feet first, Right?

the problem i see here is the lifters in the motor to be rebuilt are wore to the cam in that motor not the cam in the motor you are using.hence taking a chance of chewing up your cam and the lifter. just spend the money on new lifters you can try to use the push rods only if they are the right length but be sure they are right. those big block intakes get real heavy about the 2nd time you pull them off you should also run ac compression test on the motor to make sure the valves are not bent or stuck. bigearl1369 (AKA) Earl W.

You can use the pushrods, don't even think about reusiung a lifter in other than the bore and cam lobe it came from. You used to be able to buy single lifters at the local parts house, not sure about now.

Ya, you can still buy a single lifter at the parts store, at least it's not a problem around here... If it is, let someone on here know, they are readily available most places....
