My truck will be getting the gaskets changed and the dealer is aware of the studs available and doesnt mind doing them at the same time. For those of you who have had this done, I am seeking some advice:
1. Would you also do the EGR block off while the cab is off?
2. Has the operation been a success and were the symptoms present that triggered the replacement corrected with the procedure?
3. For those with tuners, what do you think the longevity would be tuned vs. stock? After my problems I am wondering about not adding power but its so so very nice with the tuning!
Thanks in advance and I welcome any other advice/input!

Yes it's money well spent

Yes on both counts and it is so much nicer having peace of mind.

I wouldn't worry about the engine with tuning after you stud the head unless your doing all out racing engine. Also have them either machine the heads or replace the heads depending on the amount of damage that was caused. Another thing to consider is if you want to do other mods as well(injectors, FASS, Fluidampner, RR Kit etc) now would be the time to do those as well because most places will only charge you the labor for the stud installation(don't know about the Ford Dealership will do about that though if you go thru the dealership, but your other shops will(or most will anyway)).
I use my truck for work and play. Its a 2003 F350 dually with stock tires/height/gearing. I have put on a cat back exhaust and run an SCT. I use a TOW program (with aggressive tow/haul and turbo braking) for towing and the STREET program for driving around. How much do you guys thing I am compromising longevity/durability with the tuner?
Your fine with that, I wouldn't see a problem with those tunes at all. A turbo back exhaust would help your EGTs moreso then a Cat-back. I would suggest a Fuel Regulated Return kit by ITP, that would help out your injectors(even if they are still stock) and a fluidampner and try to get that done when your doing your heads. If you only do one do the Fuel Regulated Return. The good thing about custom tunes is that you have alot more options available to you and not sacrifice reliability like you do when you get off the shelf programmers.
