Welcome to the site !

So the topic is : Gets the manifiold bolts removed or Replace the heads.

My suggestion since you mention rebuilding the engine..just let the machine shop remove the bolts when they rebuild the heads.

How many miles on this truck/engine ?

Please put the topic in the title of thread so we know what the thread is about before we open it

A machine shop will charge upwards of $20 each broken bolt. I personally would try to find a good used motor, at a fraction of the price of a rebuild. Most of the time you get lucky and get a good motor, if you are a wise shopper.

I agree with masterbeavis find a good used one. I would look for a wreck or a rustbucket or a passenger car with the same motor. I have done it a couple of times at auctions, nobody wants those old 4 door cars. I've paid 350 then drove them home pulled motor and gotten 300 in scrap for the rest. Plus if you replace the heads, it will run great for a while, then you will blow out your bottom end (rings). Good Luck Evan

find a better shop that will doe the job right. if its just the studs, check another garage, and get them removed. no need to change a motor for that. when i was back up north, garages repaired/ replaced studs, i had exhaust done on my mid size ranger and they didn't want to replace the headers. they were an exhaust shop. go figure.
