Mmmm! I love Mustangs. Just wish I had more money to get my 1970 to where I want it to be. However I also think the Cudas, Camaros, and Firebirds are awesome too!
If nothing changes with Ford and their inability to make a reliable diesel engine (the 6.4 sounds like a flop as I spend lots of time in the diesel forums here and on another site) my next truck will be a D'Max. I need my truck to go 40000 kms per year without all the b.s. associated with the last two Navistar boat anchor programs!

I like the way ya think man. I love the old musclecars, ford, dodge, and chevy. There is so many sexy muscle cars, and ford didnt make all of them.
Have you ever thought to get a ol 7.3 liter? Or are you looking more for a more powerful truck?
We have a GM HD2500 at work, and I got to test it out abit last week. It is a gasser though.
Its not my ford, but I didnt hate it either. The seats in it were actually really comfy too. I didnt like the dash and controls, but I am used to my fords.
that is my opinion,,,i love the blues and i'll stick with them!!!
my wife's uncle works for cn/cpr and he says they are all junk. thing is, he was a die hard chevy man, now owns a 05 f250 6.0L and is happy as a pig in snit. those trucks get driven hard and the cummins/dmaxes spend as much time in the shop as the rest of them. the Ford chassis seems to be the better of the 3, with the allison transmission being the toughest.
I definitely agree with the statement about the Ford being the toughest of the three as far as the truck itself. Its the most solid, roomist, and best riding of the three (not counting the megacab). I wouldnt mind picking up a real low mile 7.3 crew cab and just keep it around as a tow vehicle and run something smaller as a way to address the fuel cost! That 7.3 is still fetching a premium price because of its dependability.
The D'Max is panning out ok so far? Fuel wise too?
Is it the new version out yet or can the emissions standards be meet with the current version?
I think I would buy the one just before they put the DPF on it. My brothers 2005 Dmax runs exceptionally well and gets good mileage. He 'kind of geared it up' because it had those pathetically small 245/75/16 tires and with a 2" front end lift achieved by tightening the torsion springs it eliminated that almost too soft front end feel and made room for 285/75/16 BFG AT's.The truck looks more like a truck now, revs a bit lower giving even better mileage, pulls as well as any stock 6.0, and accelerates quicker than the 6.0 when we race. The Allison works well but the Torqshift does too.

rode about 150miles in a mega cab while i was home this past fall. nice to have so much room, but the cab noise was terrible. it was a little windy and the truck blew around like a minivan. i see that dodge is dropping that option for '09 while ford extends theirs 6 inches. i hope lots of sound deadening is used, and the truck tracks well.
I cant stand the cab or the ride of the dodge 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks. Its noisey, and not engine noise, and teh ride is just uncomfortable. Every time I get out of one of our shop trucks I have to stretch, and damn near call a chiropractor.
Definatly agree overall the ford is the toughest overall of the trucks.
The dodge falls apart, and the chevy is ok, just not quite there.
Man I would love my ford with a cummins and an allison tranny in it, unstoppable!!
