I'm thinking of dropping a solid running 302 I got in place of the worn out 300 I-6 in my 1965 M-350. The 300 goes through about 1 quart of oil an hour and the exhaust manifold has been cracked for a while plus it needs a new clutch badly.
I'm wondering if any of the brackets and pulleys off the 300 will fit the 302? The 300 only has an alternator so it's not a real complicated setup. I'm using the 302's serpentine setup for my other project. I can grab a 302 pulley setup fairly easy but if the 300 stuff fits why bother?
As far as the engine mounting differences go I already got an engine crossmember, mounts, radiator and enough exhaust pieces to do it. I would just have to wiring in the Duraspark ignition which is pretty simple. As far as the torque issue the truck has 5.13:1 gears!
