Advice For Tracking Down A Deadbeat-

We prepaid $1800 to a wedding videographer for my son's wedding. Before you jump to conclusions, we used him for a previous wedding. He does good work but is notoriously slow. This time around, he shot the wedding but then has dropped from sight. His website is closed. Previous contact numbers have been disconnected. We have reason to believe he is still in the area. Private detective seems a rather expensive method. Any advice on how to track down this guy?

No one disappears. You have a name, someone can find him. I would say you ought to get your money OR video. The problem is, if he is an ***, he DOESNT have to give you the video of the wedding. Thats his if he so desires. The money, is not.

I would start by filing a complaint with the local authorities...you are probably not the only one he has stolen from. I believe in most jurisdictions this amount of money would probably be a felony as opposed to a misdemeanor...and they would take it a bit more seriously than if it was a hundred or so. Good luck!!!

What was the website? I can try to look up a contact number for what he used to register the domain with.

If he is still in the area the local Post Office should have an idea where he is. Send a letter to his last known address with the words " Address Correction Requested " in the upper left corner. The POd will then supply you with the current address.

Here is an idea,,,post a help wanted for a wedding photographer,,,and when he shows up,,have a cop waiting there. Sure there wont be anything the cop can do because it is a civil case,,but at least he can get you his current name and address

Can always count on you guys/gals for creative suggestions and advice. The post office tact sounds like a place to start and the BBB may be of some help. Thanks all!!
