Fuel warmers - any experience?

This isn't really an attempt to increase my post count but I have a question. Does anyone have any experience with any aftermarket fuel warmers? I was looking at a site yesterday (I think it was bluegreen.us) that advertised a fuel warmer that used the coolant in the upper hose to warm the fuel before it went into the combustion chamber. It seems kind of like snake oil to me, but I do know that fuel burns better if it's more of a vapor than if it's a liquid (more gets burned and it burns hotter), so I was wondering if anybody out there has used one of these things, and what their results were. With gasoline at $3 a gallon, it'd be nice to be able to squeeze a few extra MPG out of my 4.0L V6.

TIA

dan

EDIT: the site in question is brightgreen.us. Sorry.

A Fogerator, huh? Maybe it works, I couldn't say, but.........usually you want a cool fuel air charge going into the combustion chamber as it has more density. Racers use cool cans to cool the gasoline before it goes into the engine.

Using acetone as anti-adhesion has been kicked around many times. Several swear it works miracles, while others, such as myself, had no positive results. Same with mothballs.

Your Ranger already has heated air as the engine coolant is routed around the throttle body.

I didn't check to see what this thing sells for, but I would keep my money. jd

Sounds like a good way to induce vapor lock on winter fuel, especially on a warmer winter day!!!!

The fuel gets warmed up just fine when it's injected into the intake valves air in-flow.

Winter fuels vapor pressure has already been lowered/adjusted by the refinery, for our local conditions & the computer is programed to make any needed tweaks, so imo, any unprogrammed for, messing around we do, is more likly going to upset the apple cart, than to fix something that really isn't broke!!!! lol

I'd just leave this one on the shelf!!!!

gas mileage

Go to http://www.lubedev.com/smartgas/ Read as many of the articles you can. This guy has been at it since the 50's. What he says makes sense. I have been using his recommended acetone added to my gas at 3oz / 10 gallons of fuel. I just recently bought a 04 4x4 Ranger 4.0 and on my second tank of fuel with a combined mileage got 19mpg. I am on my way out the door to get some parts to try some other suggestions he had as well. Bottom line is, read what he has to say then decide for yourself, as he suggests. And no, I am not affiliated in any way with the device mfg. I used to use acetone mixed with analin oil back in the 70's as an octane booster that worked very well for me, of course mileage wasn't a big concern. I am also going to get the Scan Gauge as they suggest, something I wanted anyway, which will help greatly. My Grand Cherokee has the realtime mileage readout factory unit which really helps to develop good driving habits for mileage. I use the acetone in this Jeep also, it has the 318 all wheel drive and I am now getting 18.9 mpg in that vs. around 16 before its use.

I have a friend who had bought the plans to build one of those vaporizing devices. He researched it alot to and found that those who used it say it'll work as long as you do it right. It seems kind of Joe Mcgee to me, and I agree with the guys saying that having a colder intake is better.
