Exclamation does yours leak? pic

Back side of the hydro booster as it comes through the firewall and connects to the brake pedal assembly. A tech pointed this out to me today, dont know how long its been doing it but i had moisture on the backside of it and if i push the pedal in and out a very small amount seems to come in and out of the pushrod? Anyone have exp with this? What should i do? Thx<center>

Just a thought: From the looks of the rust on the bracket, my guess would be condensation inside the truck. Interiors of vehicles will show condensation on the inside of the windshield etc., especially this time of year. It can be caused by moisture from your shoes, maybe a little moisture trapped under a floor mat etc. I would suggest leaving the windows open and try to get rid of the moisture if possible. I sell autos for a living and I've seen a lot of them create condensation on parts inside of them, (i.e. cold metal parts), especially in cold weather and/or after being cleaned inside. Just my 2 cents. Good luck and let us know what the fix is!

What kind of liquid is dripping off of the plunger there?
If it's red, then you need to replace the booster assembly. Ouch. $$$$$

Mine has a small amount of P/S fluid in the same general area, but does not leak out or gotten worse. I consider it to be normal, until it starts dripping on the firewall or floorboard.

Yeah, mine is the same as yours. I have noticed that before on my booster. It is definetly "wet" on the inside of the truck around the piston. Not sure if it is a problem or not? I am curious also. Mine also has the rust. At least your not alone...

On a side note, my GMC has rust on the gas pedal and brake pedal, and I'm sure it is from soaking wet boots, wet/snowy floor mats, salt etc. Not unusual for that to happen.

When he said moisture I assumed water; he could of meant fluid. Oops.

Ya its red, i wiped it all down, before the pic probably shouldnt have for comparison but ya it was moist all over it, nothing dripping down the firewall inside or out, when you push the pedal in and out it looks like a small amount comes out and then goes back in when you release it or vice versa. I hope it doesnt have to be replaced, anyone know if its the whole thing or can the snap ring be popped and the rear taken off and replaced?

A while back, I posted about mine having a "rubber to rubber" type squeak. Some others here had the same problem. I had to spray it with wd-40 and finally it stopped. Maybe a small amount can be a good thing! Check out the thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...ed-advice.html.

In my opinion, I wouldn't be upset until there is real reason to be! Just my 2 cents worth. Good luck!

I believe it is a complete replacement. I had to replace mine a couple of years ago, mine developed a leak on the engine compartment side. Just over $200.

If it's red, then it is ATF from the hydraulic system. Sooner or later it will begin to leak enough to get on your shoes.

Well $200 dollars for the assembly, I hope the shoes he's wearing aren't too expensive.
