Question Locking hood latch

Hi everyone,

I'm wanting to secure my hood on my 1976 F-100 from the outside and was wondering what's the best way to do so. Are there any locking hood latches available via a locking cylinder and key from the outside or a cable that runs inside the cab that will work/fit from a certain year car/truck/van for my application?

Thanks for the help

There was an available option with an inside lock. Some of our sponsors probably have them new or find one in salvage.

you can bolt in the "cable pull from inside the cab" style hood latch from an 80's-90's econoline van. The latch will bolt in without modification. However, the van cable is too short, so find the cable from an 80's-90's ford truck!

I hate to bust your bubble, but the locking mechanism is not foolproof, it will only slow down casual thieves.

You can see mine mounted under the dash just left of the brake controller.

You will have to drill about a 1 1/2" hole in the firewall for the grommet
Thru the firewall and along the inner fender.

This illustration of the E-series but the F-series is identical except the cable is longer due to the extra distance it has to go.
