I have the slop that most people have probably an inch overall in my steering wheel. It was like that when i bought the truck, tightened the box then cured. Then a little while ago i was hit. Almost everything has been replaced that would cause the slop in the steering wheel. If i grab the lower section of the column where it meets the box and twist most of that slop seems to be in the lower section and losing resistance on the way to the steering wheel itself.

The slop was there when i got my truck out of the shop but i thought i could just adjust the box like i had done before and fixed it. (wanted my truck back 6weeks later) The new reman box just seems to get tighter, no slop. The colapsable lower section seems to have a rubber grommet or something holding the pieces together, has anyone ever changed this section out with trucks with high mileage or a similar situation. Im thinking that i could be worn and or overstressed due to the accident. It was never replaced and i was hit in the drivers wheel and door?

Replaced parts:
New box, pitman arm, idler arm, ball joints, new stablilizers, Alignment twice, everything else is tight.
