Which 460 block casting do I need?
I will have many questions during the process, but I will start with these two basics. Please excuse my ignorance if these seem like novice questions.
1) which block casting # can I use to rebuild the EFI engine?
2) I should probably know this, but I'm not taking any chances. I have a 5-speed manual. Do I need to find a block that also had a 5-speed manual, or will my bellhousing mate-up to a block that had an auto trans?
Thank you for your help and patience.

O.K., upon further search of the archives (I really did search them before my initial post) I was able to determine the following:
1) I can use the 1979 block (D9TE(?)), but not the pre-1979 block for an EFI engine rebuild.
2) Whether the to-be-rebuilt block originally had a standard/manual or auto trans does not matter.
If anyone can confirm or deny these conclusions, please let me know.
Thanks for the bandwidth,
