I am having problems with rear brake lights. The third brake light is working fine. The turn signals are working fine. I have replaced bulbs. I have replaced fuses. i have checked the lines and dont seem to get any power at the back for the brakes.
What can I do? I checked the brake switch and I think it is ok, but I am getting a new one tomorrow.
Any Help is appreciated because some one is gonna run all up the back of me sooner or later.
Have you put a test light on the fittings of the light?
Are you getting power back to the housing?
Where are you certain that you have power vs. where you are certain you don"t?
it seems that i have power at the fuse panel. I have checked with pin probe tester the lines to the back and seem like no power at the wire harness connections attached to the frame. i do have power on the third brake light on the cab, which makes me think the brake switch on the pedal is ok but it has two sets of contacts and five wires.
third light operating means the system is working (generally).
On my '00 there are 4 fuses for rear lights and two more for the trailer tow brake light option which will bugger up the normal system if the tow set fails. Some of the fuses control brake light relays, which in mine are under the engine fuse box.
Book says that the hazard flasher switch could be bad, test to see if the 4 ways work, same light bulb filament. the feeds should be hot always
my year the stop lamp feeds are light green or orange / light green
my year look at fuse 15, 1, 12, 24 possibly 13
Ohm meter brake switch light green to ground and light green / red to ground SB 12 V always
