Paint Ideas

Well, I'm the process of sandin the ol' girl down right now, and I'm gonna paint her with some cheap paint from Tractor Supply. The paint is only $24 a gallon plus $10 for some hardner.

I have the option of Black, Grey, Silver, White, or Red.

I orginally wanted to just paint it black, but then was talked out of it so, I am thinking about the Grey with a black at the bottom 6'' or so of the body (bottom body line down)

What'd ya'll think I should do?

P.S. FrankenFord, I will not paint it Grabber Green.

The color it is now (if it's the one in your profile) looks real good. If you can match it or close. If you've got a black interior, red would look real nice. The white, silver, and gray are the good choices to hide dust and dings.

Id do a black and silver two tone. Black on the top and bottom and silver in the middle of the truck. Silver or gray whatever one you want. Like this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/XLT-4...em160198695484

If you check my gallery, you'll see a pic of my 1990. If you swapped silver for the red, I think it would look pretty damn awesome.

Funny you should mention multi-tone paint schemes. In the spring I plan on painting my truck with New Holland enamel...8N red (since my truck is red already) with 8N grey and '63-'64 Ford tractor blue. I'm just not sure yet where I'm gonna paint the stripes yet. At $11/quart, I'm gonna be spending almost twice as much as you, but that's still cheap in the paint world.

Like Chris, I think silver and black would make a good combo...although if you have the extra money to blow, I think maroon and silver would look better. I spent my teenage years in the '80s, and that's the '50s "pink and white" of our generation.

Yeah, my '87 in my gallery. The paint looked (I gotta say looked now, cuz half the truck has been sanded) ok, but it had a lot of nicks and dings, and the hood and upper half of the truck had no clear coat, but the rest did. My hood had most of the paint missing already, cuz when me and my dad rebuilt the motor, we leaned the hood against our shop, weeds grew up in a few weeks and then the wind made them sway back and forth tankin most of the paint off.

I think I am only gonna paint the bottom part black, cuz I am gonna put my black headache rack and tool box back on, along with a painting my tailgate (its an aftermarket louverd one), back bumper black.
