I had to put a new concentric slave cylinder in my truck and well one of the crossmember bolts lives real close to this reservoir assembly, and boke the tip off for the fuel line feed connection. No parts store carries this or even knows what it is, I must have been asked a dozen times, are you sure it not....filter,pump,fuel tank selector ect ect. Anyway my truck has only one tank. The only kind ford "i was told" they could get had 4 input lines. Since i'm between the rock i went ahead and ordered it. First can I use this? If not, does anyone know where to procure the right one, or can it be bypassed?

No you can not use it.

Just go to a salvage yard and get one off any Bronco II. One off a Bronco should be the same also. The years to get one off of is from 1986 to about at least 1989. You might find one on an F150 also but finding a F150 with one tank in this year range is rare.
There is no moving parts, check valve or valves inside one of these Reservoir so there is nothing to ware out. Some do have a Filter in them but other than that they do not go bad.
The reservoir is a Ford base number 9k044, the non electric fuel tank selector valve is a 9b263 base number, and yes they look alot alike. Call your local Ford dealer parts deapartment and ask them to look up and if they don't have one run the part number on the Ford parts locator, once found they or you can call the stocking dealer and request the confirm the number of connections. If they still show the wrong number of connectors look for the Ford engineering number on your old one, they can cross it over to the sales part number.

I take that back, just looked at my spare and it has two check valves inside. One of the check valves is on the supply line coming from the tank into the Reservoir.
The other check valve is from the return line going into the Reservoir. This return line also has no restriction going to the tank. Not sure what this one is for unless the return line going to the tank gets plugged up.
Mine and the numbers off the couple others i got were all 9k044. I found some single tank ones on a couple 86 f250's and got one of those, but I also got one from a dual tank set up just to take apart. Just looking at it couldn't you run say a single tank to what should be the front tank "upper two" and loop the "bottom two" or rear into each other and it still work. To me it doesn't look like anything would come out anyway or it shouldn't cause it would then be taking or returning to the wrong tank anyway.

Yes you are right it is a "K".
The number for the part looks like "E6TZ-9K044-B" or "E6TZ-9K044-BA".
The only other number listed for that year is "E6TZ-9K044-A" but I think it is for the dual tank set up. Both have filters in them for 1986 but 1987 does not have a filter in them.

On the web page the number has an error in it.
They have FO - alphabet and it should have been F0 - zero.
Search with a O and it should come up.

It will work. This is how I currently have my 79 F-150 set up as it only has one fuel tank. I'm running the fuel system from an 88 Econoline with the mechanical dual tank switching valve. No problems with it at all.
jhardee i have a 88 that had two tanks i had to replace, i just replaced the front one and plugged the lines to the rear tank off at the reservoir and its doing fine.
it needs the reservoir i tried mine with out and it burned up my pressure fuel pump on the frame rail so dont try that.
Yeah i had given up on the not using it idea, thats why i went ahead and got the old one but since i had already ordered a new 2 tank style i figured i'd use it. So i did go ahead and hook up the new 2tank style after i tore apart the one i got from the salvage yard to look inside to make sure there were "check valves", to make sure nothing could come out of the unused lines and so far so good. However just so i'd feel better i got an extra feed line that goes between the pump and reervoir which has a 3/8" end and the 5/16" end and looped it on the rear tank send and return.
