Ok, I have two trucks a 95 ex. cab short bed(winter ride and daily driver) and 96 short bed(summer only 5k per year). Both are 2wd. I need shocks in the '95.
Lets back up a bit. I put parts store yellow monroe shocks in my 96 and didn't care for them. I ditched them with only a 1000 miles or so for a set of Rancho RS5000's. The 96 stiffened right up but its maybe a bit too stiff and bumpy, but way better than the yellows. I am considering putting the rancho's in the 95 and putting better shocks in the 96.
Question: What woud be a good shock for the 96? The yellow shocks didn't feel strong enough and the Rancho's felt stiff enough but offered no ride smoothness.
Are there better options? i just don't want to keep throwing shocks at it hoping to get the right ones.
Hey 12, I'm at Exit 12, have to do the same thing in my 96. Yours is real nice, mine's a beater but runs real good for an I-6. I don't like the Monroes either-mushy. I'm checking out some different things but need more advise too, I need a steering box also. I'll post back if I find something of definite interest. I used to race a bit. 74 firebird 350 stock, maybe shaved a bit?? big Holley dbl-p, big carter pump and lines, no pollution-all stripped, straight pipes duel, front-end job every 6 weeks HAAAAA! Killer Fast though. Blew the pipes off the manifold one night in 1978 between Exit 12 and 13 North. They were destroyed, I ripped them off and threw them over the side of the TP into the marsh-probably still there and drove without exhaust for about a month till my neihbors called the police. HA what a scene!!!!!!!!!! It's great to be 18.
Installed the bilsteins HD's in rear of truck in sig, they were on special at the time. I like them better than the yellow monroe gas shocks i have in front.
yea I been wantin a set of Bilsteins for mine and I know she's due...I think I've got factory originals......yuck...Be prepared to pay a decent price for the Bilsteins....quality IS quantity...Later
I have black monroes on my F350. There fine i guess. With the 36's and leafs all around what could I ask for, I have KYB Gas's in my Mustang there nice. I know they make em for these year trucks.
