Brake Vacuum - engine stalling
My 83 f100 has been off the road for a couple of years and I have just got it re-registered and rebuilt the 600 vac secondaries, put in new points \ condenser etc. It seems to be running ok but is a bit rough in the higher revs. The brake pedal feels spoungy and dosent retract and the brake booster appears to give a hiss every now and then. The rear brakes have just been replaced (shoes and cylinders) but now the rear tyre appears to be locking on sporatically. (I am sure that the wheel cylinders are adjusted correctly). There is no fluid missing from the Master Cylinder. Also when you are driving and apply the brakes firmly the engine stalls. I think it is a leaking Brake booster \ diaphram. I am aware that if there is a vacuum leak in the brakes then the motor will loose vacuum and can cause it to stall.
Has anyone had this problem? I have had a quick check of the hoses etc.
