According to your profile, you've a '55 F-100.
Which means you are in the perfect ballpark for this seller of your year model truck, but you have to watch him like a hawk or other wise he'll attempt to take advantage of you, especially if you have him do Any kind of work on your Olde Girl for you.
Price wise, High Average to Exorbinate.
As far as '53-'56 parts vendors go, they have probably been around the longest. I bought some parts for my tailgate from them years ago and they were just fine. I haven't purchased used parts from them, however.
He had my truck for almost 5 months, didn't do the work exactly as I instructed, charged me more than agreed upon & was going to charge me a storage fee for the time he was working on my truck.
It seems things have changed since you delt w/ him.
I have ordered a load of new parts stainless hood and fender rods etc etc. From Bob's hope I am not going to get my eyes ripped out. I useally do use Johns but didnt think they did any of the dark side stuff I needed.

I would be upset, too. Like I said, I only got something from him once...tailgate latches and hinges.
I asked for a list and prices for all the parts I had ordered from Bob's and they are the same price as midfifty, where I have also bought many parts from.
The guy at Bob's (Dave) has got me all the parts I have asked for and they ready for me to pick up when I am over there next week, good communication (unlike midfifty).
Real sorry to hear about your experience Col that must be very upsetting, hope all is sorted now OK.
Prices were outrageous.
I was looking for a grill for my 1955. I had a VERY clean 1956 grill I wanted to trade for a 1955. He wouldn't trade, but that was only because Bob himself wasn't there to make the trade. I asked the outright prices for the 1955 grilles: $350-$550. I thought that was crazy, especially after I bought one on ebay (the equivalent of a $350 one from Bob's) a month later for $20 plus shipping.
Since I didn't learn my lesson that time I asked the price for a set of glove box hinges: $65.
Apparently Bob's parts are coated in gold.
I've never heard anything good about the quality of his work nor have I ever been impressed by the projects I've seen at his store. I think the only thing I've ever bought from him was a dash key bezel. It was probably overpriced too.
I have observed that the "attitude" of the buyer can greatly effect the way the seller responds. My best friend is amazed by the way various shops in our area treat me compared to him.
He says they always seem to treat me like a good friend, and don't seem to want to give him the time of day.
I think it is important not to act like a know it all when dealing with shops and vendors.
I have bought from Bob's many times without problems, and one time took a cherry set of running boards to trade for a used hood. Bob sent one of his guys with me to his back storage yard to pick one out. His guy helped me search for a good hood (better than mine). We went through about 75 hoods but could not find one better than what I had. But my point is, they tried their best to accomodate me.
I have not had any work performed by Bob's on my truck so I can't speak to that.
Is Bobs F100s the same as SOCALIFORNIA PICKUP'S and PANELS? If so---then I bought alot from them in the 70s.....man.....wish the prices were the same now! lol!! Bill
