Well I never thought I would have to post this question but man. My X acording to the lie o meter is getting 12 MPG shouldnt I be in the 15 to 17 range. I have a 6637 air filter and I got a MBRP 4 inch exhaust on it. Next fill up I will do it hand caluated but the lie o meter cant be that far off can it. Do you guys have any ideas what my problem would be,
Thanks
Nick
Well Nick, I'm sure you know the normal things to check. Boots, up-pipes, EBPS, EBPS tube. You know the ULSD is giving us heck, and the winter blend also. I had a 2-3 mpg drop in the last few months. Many people are complaining about this very thing.
Yes to the lie-o-meter. They are next to worthless other than being kind of fun to look at. Being in California the winter should not affect you. But I know when I am in Buffalo or Alaska in cold weather my mpg drops dramatically. Try the recommended dose of DK and see if it is cost effective in improving the mpg. Not to mention the help it is in staving off the damage the ULSD is doing to all of us.
Its not accurate at all. Mine sometimes reads 17-20 and i know i'm not getting much over 10, it's just the fact i use alot of fuel while i'm either in park, or in gear but not moving.

Do you find it odd that his lie-o-meter is reading lower, I have only seen a higher reading....on second thought the truck isn't chiped or have a tuner, so the lie-o-meter might be closer to correct. As far a fuel suppliments go try opti-lube
It was first in the study on lubricity, next to 2% biodiesel DK didn't fair to well, if you put any stock in those studies.
Check at the pump and see if they are adding 2% bio to the ULSD, or switch to biodiesel if you can find it. We don't have it here to cold I think. We do have the 2% soy added to the fuel at Kwik Trip (Located in MN, IA and WI they might be other places)
The lie-o-meter is notorious for reading high, so if his is reading 12 I just automatically assumed that his actual milage may just be 8 or 9. Which may be the worse mpg I have ever seen for a 7.3 without towing one hell of a heavy load.
Winter months more people go to them so they need more but they still just have 5 lanes open . Let me correct my self, I get about 13-14 MPG in the winter.
