workingdog and all,
Check out this link http://www.newsales.com/truckind.htm
I was really surprised at the prices. Higher than a junkyard seat, but really reasonable.

thanks for the info. i sit too high in the cab and was hoping to find a different seat that might sit a little lower but still give as much leg room as poss.
I'd have to say I didn't take the easy way out on this one... but I've adapted 2005 Chevy Truck seats (I know I know) into my 67. They look great and no were do they have a bow tie on them :-)
I had to weld two 4" wide channels into the floor to get this to work but now I have a nice center armrest that can become a seat when needed. It also gave me integrated seat belts.
take 2 can you post some pics. i'm just about to install some leather captains chairs from a f150 xlt and wanted to get an idea of the easiest way.
thanks
mark
I am in the same boat. My 71 had a seat-but someone snapped the brackets in 2. I need a seat soon, and want to spend as little as possible, but get a nice bench-with center fold down and flip-forward,to get to the tank.
I have the floor all dynamtted and carpet cut and fit--just need some tracks for a 71-72 ford and a nice seat.........like to see your pics! Bill
I also installed a later model Chevy seat in my truck. A friend had bought it new and it had never been used. I had to cut brackets and weld new nuts to the floor for mounting, but feels great. There are some pictures in my gallery.
I have Dodge bench seat mine. A neighbor was moving and gave it to me, brand new. Had to transfer the brackets over. It does not have the S springs like our original seats. The angle is different, more up right, but I like it. It forces you to setup straight, the back does not hit the cab. The over all thickness is thiner so you have more space between the wheel. It's a lot firmer than the worn out bench I had, which is better on my back. I will probable upgrade to newer seats when I finish my paint work. But at my pace that may be a couple of years.
I haven't a clue to what year. he normally traded in the 70-80 model PUs. These old PU (67-72 F100) are about 2-3" wider than the later ones. This seat was within a inch of the original seat width. I think there are some pict in my gallery.
I had a similar situation with a customer's truck some time back. He was very tall, like 6'6" or so. I used a set out of a Dodge mini-van. Once you get the base off of them, they are a very low and very well built seat! I've also done a couple using late 80's, early 90's Mustang seats... Takes a bit of fabricating to adapt the seat tracks to the floor, but if you like buckets it's the way to go. Also, it's not that difficult to fab up some lower tracks, and or "chop" the stands on the stock seat.... When the stock seat is rebuilt with the good foam, they are also very comfortable and as they were designed for the truck, look good too......
