D1VE block?

While pulling my transmission, starter, and flywheel, I happened to look up and see the block casting. D1VE. Is this a special block, since it is 1971, or is it the same as a D5VE, D5TE, etc etc.???

D1VE block?

The only real difference in non-Boss 385 series blocks '68-78 were the '70 DOOE CJ/SCJ 4-bolt and some 2-bolt DOVE blocks that have thicker castings around the main bearing webs. Deck height was changed but not enough to matter unless you're after serious hp. All the 2-bolt blocks are good for 650-700hp.

I heard you can buy aluminum and iron blocks now with taller deck heights form some serious cubes... Does anyone know if this is a Motorsport block or other?

D1VE block?

Ford Racing has always sold 4-bolt iron and aluminum blocks with a variety of deck heights. Their catalog is at most Ford dealer parts departments.

Hi georgedavila....Are you saying there is a D0OE block casting for the 385 series engines? I never seen one. I have seen CJ and SCJ blocks with DOVE-A as the casting in both the 2 bolt and 4 bolt version and ofcourse that nice thick main webbing. As far as I can tell between the standard DOVE-A (that you would find In a Lincoln)and the CJ DOVE-A is CJ stamp in the lifter gallary area oh about mid way up the block

Ding-Dang George........You had me thinking there for a moment. Could there be another casting???? That's one of the good things about this forum, you always can learn about Ford's old iron. Maybe this weekend I will take some pics of the DOVE and C9VE block main web and pan rail area and post it to this thread so the guy's of new and old call see what we are talking about.

D1VE block?

Just to throw another at ya... I just found a complete C6VE engine with intake and manifolds. I think it might be a 429. Everything was cast C6VE. Anyone have the code book?
Is this worth grabbing?
