Talking 98 explorer upper ball joint

I could use some help. I purchased a new upper control arm/ball joint to replace the squeaky one on the drivers side. I have began work and have removed the pinch bolt/nut and removed the ball joint end. I'm in the process of removing the upper control arm on my explorer. I have removed the control arm nuts and on the aft side, the bolt does not have clearance to be removed due to 2 metal fuel lines in the way. Does anyone know if I need to disconnect the lines or can they be moved out of the way. They are fairly stiff and I don't want to break them. Thanks

You do not need to disconnect the brake lines. As you have already discovered, its a tight fit and a PITA. But the control arm bolts will come out without removing these lines. You just have to be patient and keep twisting the bolts after removing the nuts. Trust me, they will come out.

Take note of how the cam adjusters are positioned, as these set the camber. You'll probably want to get an alignment afterwards anyway, just to be sure.
