Well for hauling longer things, the Supercrews had the optional bed extender the would let you secure items that reach back to the end of the tailgate when it is down.

Oh, Get the 5.4L. you will be happier with the added torque over the 4.6L.

Personally, I am usually in category 1...but I can fit a riding lawnmower in the bed of mine with the tailgate shut (I had the let air out of the back tires, but it worked) I bought mine in 05 as an 05...no "long bed" supercrews then...

keep your old 95 for the times needed for the real hauling......get the supercrew for the family and light stuff.
