I had my uncle look at it and he thinks that it might be the stabilizer bushings or the ball joint. The truck doesn't clunk when you turn the wheel at all. I wish I knew of a way to find out exactly what the problem was. It doesn't appear to be as easy as it sounds....literally! I can buy just the bushings at the auto parts store, which are about $15......the whole arm is $100. I don't know how to or what parts I need to change the whole arm. I don't know if the whole arm comes with new bushings, either. I can call and ask about that, though.
Stabilzer bushings are pretty easy, I have not doen and EXP but have done several cars.
When I have done the ball joints I have opted to do the whole upper or lower arm, as they inlcude the joint and the inner bushings. I sure dont want to have to do it all over again because the bushings are going too!
Any idea of what tools I need? Anything special? I have access to large tools, but maybe not something special. I could also loan tools from autozone or advance auto. Those two stores seem to stock the upper control arms and all of the bushings for both upper and lower arms, but they don't seem to stock the lower control arms themselves.
Only difference I can think of is the air ride sensor pivot joint on the upper control arm, it just kinda prys off once you lift the tab up. DONT FORGET TO TURN OFF THE AIR RIDE before lifting the Navi!
I didn't use any any special tools, but you could use a ball joint fork to separate the spindle from the ball joint it can be difficult otherwise.
